Hedge Trimming

Hedge Trimming

The price to trim privacy hedges, as with all aspects of tree-work, the price we are able to provide reflects three conditions: expected time, technical skill and labor required to complete the project. Our team of arborists has years of experience working on hedges and understands the time and labor associated with completing the work to the level of your expectation.

This information is to help you understand the price associated with maintaining a luxury item like a large Leland Cypress privacy hedge.

[Pictured Below] Height reduction of five-to-ten feet on a 50’L x 10’W x 20’H privacy hedge with boom-truck access (ideal work environment) is in the price range of $5,000 to $7,000. Hedges are extremely dense and lack the space required for a climber to be effective; this density also prevents the man-bucket [pictured below] to “sit inside the hedge” in order to make the proper cuts. Keep in mind this scenario is entirely focused on the depth of the hedge, while height is a key factor in some scenarios (no bucket truck access), depth is the main factor in all hedges.

The same principles apply for “lightly trimming” a large hedge. Depending on the size of the hedge and the severity of the trim, it is typically much easier to reduce the height by five-to-ten feet than it is to “buzz” the top and sides for appearance. This is mostly reserved for hedges in locations the bucket-truck cannot access like a backyard. In these scenarios we use an orchard ladder to reach your desired height.

We like to recommend to our clients who are indecisive about their ongoing expense to maintain their large hedge to remove it and plant English Laurel. It grows an average of one-to-two feet a year and can be trained to grow tall but not wide. This provides you with your privacy and keeps maintenance costs much lower.
